Tent Tote Bag

Design

Faulty tents make great upcycled shopping bags! They are lightweight, shower resistant and fold up nice and compact to carry around in a handbag or coat pocket ready for when needed. Features handles long enough for the shoulder and a small outside pocket. Approximately 42cm x 46cm.

Why we love it

  • Repurposed from unused tents that would otherwise have gone to landfill - each one is unique and one of a kind
  • Ethically hand crafted by trained tailors through a fair trade initiative in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world
  • 100% of all money made by Cycle of Good funds social enterprise, early years childcare and family support in Chilomoni Township

Cycle of Good collects waste inner tubes from cycle shops and cycling clubs throughout the UK. It also collects used and unwanted lorry curtain destined for UK landfill. The waste materials are shipped in its own containers to Malawi, where they are given to its tailors to make something beautiful.

Measures approximately 38cm wide x 40cm deep maximum when folded over and fastened.

Vegan friendly.

Cycle of Good pays above the national living wage and offers full employment rights such as paid holiday and pensions. Regular, reliable employment is essential and very hard to come by in Malawi. With no welfare state, the locals cannot work, and cannot support their families. The Cycle of Good has made lasting positive change for the communities in Chilomoni Township, Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world.

✔ The Malawian workshops are made from soil eco-blocks and are all powered by the sun

✔ Cycle of Good works with the Chilomoni forestry service to plant trees on its local mountain

✔ All the off-cuts of inner-tube and lorry curtain are made into soft furniture for use by local schools

✔ All waste items from the UK are shipped by sea in shared container space
