The idea for The Powder Shampoo came when Founder and mum of three Jlynn Chen was running a successful beauty distribution business in Asia. Concerned about greenhouse gas emissions and the kind of world her children and grandchildren would grow up in, Jlynn had a vision to create a better, smarter and more sustainable way we care for our hair and bodies and set on a mission to revolutionary change daily showers all over the world.

The story behind The Powder Shampoo

As a veteran in the hair care industry, Jlynn focused on creating a brand that would allow people to make small but impactful changes every day. She set about formulating a natural product that retained the cleansing power of a foaming shampoo, yet was also pleasurable, effective, eco conscious and easy to use. And most importantly, free from plastic. By early 2022 The Powder Shampoo was born, launching four different shampoos that tackled dandruff, hair loss, excess oil and sensitive scalps.

Today the brand has its own manufacturing facility in Singapore, and has expanded the range to include powder foam body washes, continuing its mission to obtain plastic free showers all over the world. Its eco responsibility also extends to a partnership with Tree-Nation, who plant a tree for every bottle sold; with an aim to reach 1,000,000 trees by 2030.

Why I Love The Powder Shampoo

Performance shampoos are a big market, and not something it's been easy to find in an eco friendly format. There are some great bars out there, but generally they are not formulated to different hair types. So when I came across The Powder Shampoo I was intrigued - completely water free and a compact format that is great for travelling. And the best bit - I can confirm they really work!
