As a working mum with two young children, founder Jo Mack could see the growing plastic crisis and refused to accept that waste is an inevitable consequence of how we consume products. Constantly looking for ways to reduce plastic use and find environmentally friendly alternatives, Jo found herself struggling to find the right products. Either the alternatives didn’t exist, or they weren’t truly plastic-free, biodegradable or compostable. So Jo decided to take action!
Jo started out selling reusable nappies and menstrual products under brand name Boobalou, but she still couldn't source the products she wanted so began a long journey of product development. She started with eco floss that was vegan, cruelty free and palm oil free, and fair trade organic cotton buds in a 100% paper box. Although it was time-consuming work, it was worth it and she ended up with good quality, ethical products that were missing from the market.
In 2014 Jo took the plunge and set up ecoLiving with a clear mission: to make sustainable, effective, plastic free products accessible to all that are comparable in price but better in quality. Supporting small, independent companies that shared her vision of sustainable living was also extremely important to her. Jo started working out of one room in her house, which grew to two rooms, a workshop in her garden, a storage unit, to two storage units, and finally the warehouses that ecoLiving is run from today!
As the Brand has evolved, Jo has been joined by her sister Sarah and supported by a small but mighty team that shares the very same family values that are at the centre of all it does. The team work tirelessly together to continue improving the business and helping customers to improve theirs.
Carbon neutral British brand EcoLiving creates natural cleaning products that are made responsibly, sustainably and ethically. All products are sourced/produced in the UK or Europe and are packaged in resealable kraft paper pouches strengthened with home compostable plant-based film.
