Hibiscus tea produces a refreshingly tart, bright, ruby-red infusion. Caffeine-free and bursting with blackcurrant, this herbal tea is also full of vitamin C. We love the zing, but stir in a dash of honey for added sweetness.
Why we love it
Pure, hand-picked whole leaf tea conveniently sealed in a compostable teabag
Sustainably sourced from trusted farms, co-operatives and partners who are paid well above fair trade prices
Prepared and packaged in Britain by a small team of passionate brewers, blenders, tasters, curators and, perhaps most importantly, drinkers of delicious tea!
Grown and harvested by small holder tea growers around the Satemwa Estate, high in the Thyolo Mountains, Malawi. The bright red calyx of the Hibiscus flower is hand picked and dried naturally in the sun.
Pop one tea bag in your favourite cup or mug and add around 250ml of boiling water. Allow to brew for around 3-5 minutes. Remove bag and add a splash of milk if preferred, stir and enjoy!
The tea bag and string is made from a material called SOILON, a natural, plant-based material derived from cornstarch, while the tag is made from paper. Finally the whole thing is sealed using heat - so no plastic to speak of. That means each tea bag in its entirety is fully compostable and in the right conditions will break down into just CO2 and water within 8-12 weeks.
Packaged in the UK in a clear NatureFlex™ compostable film bag to ensure maximum freshness. NatureFlex™ is a cellulose based film from renewable wood pulp proven to be suitable for home composting. It is also marine degradable. Presented in a recyclable card box from sustainably managed forests.
Box measures approximately 5.5cm wide x 10cm long x 12.5cm high. 15 tea bags. 45g.
The health properties of tea have been celebrated for centuries in different societies, but its properties are now being appreciated by a new generation of tea drinkers here in the West. The benefits are now acknowledged for both physical and mental health, with an increasing interest in mindfulness, an important backdrop to the physiological benefits of tea.
