OUR TINY BEES

The idea for Our Tiny Bees came after founder Jon Stead had been keeping bees with his father for a few years. One summer they had quite a lot of surplus honey and beeswax after maintaining the hives, and wanted to put it to good use. All his life Jon had suffered with very dry lips, so with a little research and practicing formulas at the kitchen table, he created some natural, sweet-smelling lip balms. Not only did the balms cure Jon's cracked and sore lips, they also smelled amazing and everyone wanted one!

The story behind Our Tiny Bees

FROM KITCHEN TABLE TO MARKET

A few months later Jon had made enough for everyone, so approached a small health food shop in Manchester who took 80 and Our Tiny Bees was born!

In 2014 Jon was approached by the BBC to appear on Dragon's Den. Never wanting to be mainstream, Jon agreed and entered the Den. It was clear that business entrepreneurs did not get it, advising it would be way simplier to buy commercial Chinese honey and beeswax to make more profit and spend less time purifying it himself. Jon realised he was happy earning less money to make things better, and would rather fill his pots with goodness, charge a fair price and be happy.
