From renovating houses and training horses, founder Julia Weddell had a lifelong ambition to setup an ethically based company where she could use her love of animals to create a range of products which are both fun, fair trade and very collectable.
When setting up Amica in 2004, social equality in the workplace was a priority for Julia. Every person involved in making Amica accessories works in a clean and safe environment; is respected by every member of the business; earns a fair wage and is over the legal working age. The brand is very proud of the fact that its supplier is a guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organisation and was also the first Fair Trade USA certified company in Nepal.
Today, Amica HQ in Bristol consists of a small team who are still as focused on creating fantastic new ideas as those early days - the crazier the better! Even Cara, the most gorgeous golden lab became the inspiration behind the Brand's yellow lab Christmas decorations, tree toppers, toys and keyrings - here she is looking extremely photogenic!
