SALT OF THE EARTH

Salt of the Earth came to be in 2005 when mother and son team Sally & Thomas took on a business that had been producing just one product since 1993 - a crystal body deodorant that offered a clean, gentle alternative to standard deodorants that contained aluminium, parabens and other synthetic ingredients. Keen to get started, the duo quickly set up production using a tea urn in the back room of their family home.

The story behind Salt of the Earth

FULL STEAM AHEAD!

The range expanded and production grew quickly, prompting the move to a factory specially designed to make natural deodorants in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire. By 2013, the brand had become one of the first companies to offer refillable options in a move to become more sustainable. Six years later in 2019, it launched its first ever plastic free deodorant in a bid to help reduce its carbon footprint even further.

SOUND ETHICAL CREDENTIALS

From its humble beginnings with the tea urn, Salt of the Earth has become a leader in the natural deodorant market. Its factory is run on electricity from 100% renewable sources and produces one of the widest ranges of natural deodorants and fragrances in the world. Through its refillable solutions, the brand has helped save over 500,000 plastic bottles from reaching landfill, and it's also certified to the COSMOS natural standard and approved by the Leaping Bunny and the Vegan Society.

We think that's pretty impressive!
