The story behind The Handmade Soap Co

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION

Based in a village in County Meath a little north of Dublin, founder Donagh upcycled a derelict linen mill and recommissioned the unused hydroelectric turbine that once powered it. All machinery, lights, heating and internet is powered by water from the River Boyne which runs beside the mill. The brand doesn't use any oil, gas or carbon fuels onsite or any electricity from the grid. It's powered completely by nature!

INSPIRED BY NATURE

The high percentage of botanical and herbal extracts means each product is sustainably produced by hand in very small batches for maximum freshness. Everything is free from all parabens, SLS's, petrochemicals and synthetic colours and fragrances.

In 2022, The Handmade Soap Co received B Corp accreditation for the many ways it lives its values - from getting its entire skincare range Ecocert accredited, to how it honours its workforce and work environment - something Donagh is very proud of - and we are too!

Why I Love The Handmade Soap Co

The Handmade Soap company remains one of our bestsellers in the shop where we've been selling it for years and years! I think it is the amazing fragrances that attract people in the first place, and the quality of the ingredients that keep people coming back to buy again. A beautiful Irish brand we're proud to include in our range.
