Designed in Britain and ethically produced in Indonesia from sustainable rubberwood. Coloured with a soft non-toxic water stain and presented in a recyclable card box. This toy meets the European standard safety of products according to EN71, parts 1 and 3.

Tender Leaf Toys strive to maintain ethically high standards throughout their organisation. In addition, regular audits take place in all their factories, by the BSCI.

Rubberwood is a by-product of latex production so the use of this wood is helping to reduce waste. The production of latex becomes uneconomical once the trees have reached the grand age of about 25 years and traditionally were felled and burned, but under an Indonesian legal wood incentive, that timber can be used and turned into beautiful toys.

Tender Leaf is committed to giving back to the environment and is proud to have partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects which are recognised as one of the most effective re-forestation projects on the planet. Their work reduces extreme poverty and restores healthy forests by employing local villagers to plant millions of trees every year. By focusing on areas of high unemployment they have created 3,500 jobs in some of the hardest hit places in the world: Madagascar, Nepal, Haiti, Indonesia and Mozambique.

Wooden toys last for generations so when they are no longer played with they can be passed to a younger friend or family member for a new world of fun and development.

Tender Leaf Toys is a British brand owned by ThreadBear Designs. Co Founders Danielle Hanson and Nick Shirley started ThreadBear Designs designing and distributing a range of delightful soft toys and gifts for children that are made to last with a lifetime of love. After spending many years in Indonesia working closely with the Mentari factory creating delightful and imaginative premium wooden toys, Danielle partnered with them to create a new brand, Tender Leaf Toys, and brought it to the UK marketplace.

Every year, the Brand travels to Indonesia and spends around two months working alongside Mentari International. The family-run factory operates with high standards of training, wellbeing and respect and provides dependable employment for hundreds of local villagers. During the visits everyone works together, eats together and makes gorgeous toys together. From raw wood to the finished product, every single stage of production happens in the same family-run factory. Once each toy has been hand-painted, assembled and checked, it is wrapped in paper and packaged in recycled cardboard.

Tender Leaf is totally committed to safeguarding the natural environment in Indonesia, where its toys are manufactured. Mentari only uses rubber wood that is felled as a by-product of the rubber industry and replants every tree used through a local government-run scheme. From the arrival of reclaimed timber to the final packaging of goods, every stage of production conforms to the firm’s impressive ethical trading standards. In addition, for every reclaimed tree it uses, Mentari plants a new one, driving ahead the cycle of regeneration. Mentari & Tender Leaf Toys have been awarded the ICTI Ethical Toy Program seal of approval for their ethical and sustainable supply chain. ThreadBear Design, the sole UK importers of Tender Leaf Toys, has also signed an agreement with the international non-profit organisation Eden Reforestation Projects to ensure that for every order placed, 10 young trees will be planted.

Made from sustainable rubberwood and high grade responsibly sourced birch plywood. Coloured with non-toxic paints.

Regeneration

Deeply committed to protecting Indonesia’s natural resources, a new tree is planted for every reclaimed one that Tender Leaf uses, driving ahead the cycle of regeneration.
