This updated design on the original bambu short salad servers offers a more classic feel with a squarer shape and longer handles. Great size for a small or shallow salad bowl, and also handy to throw in a picnic basket or travel bag.

Each server is hand made from a single piece of certified organic bamboo which is then hand shaped and finished with food safe certified organic oil. Using a single piece of bamboo means the product is safer to use as there is no glue joining pieces together that could leach into food. Bamboo is also more durable than wood, is heat and stain resistant and is ideal for non-stick cookware.

Responsibly made in China where there are safe working conditions and fair labour practices. Producer Bambu is also B Corp certified which means the company’s business model and entire operations are evaluated to see how they impact their workers, community and environment. In short, B Corporation is to business what Fairtrade certification is to food.

Can be washed in the dishwasher however, as with wooden products, we recommend hand washing to prolong life. Avoid soaking. Not recommended for microwave.

Certified organic by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture).

Approximately 22cm long x 6cm wide.

ORGANIC

Made from organic bamboo certified by the USDA (US Department of Agriculture). Sources are audited by IMO Switzerland, an international agency for inspection, certification and quality assurance of eco-friendly products.

All Bambu's certified organic products are hand sanded and finished using food-safe organic oils. They are tested and approved to be pesticide free and chemical free which means they are safer to use. The bamboo grows and is harvested from wild groves rather than from farmed plantations and the fact that there are no fertilisers or pesticides also protects the health of farmers who work there.

SUSTAINABLE

Miracle plant bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, and is an endlessly renewable resource - growing new shoots from its root system after being harvested. It thrives naturally without using any pesticides or fertilisers, takes in greenhouse gasses and produces 35% more oxygen than the equivalent trees.

Bambu was established in 2003 with a goal to reducing our use and reliance on plastic by providing people with beautiful, non-toxic, sustainable products made from nature.

Founders Jeff & Rachel were born in Portland, Oregon – a place that prides itself on local, homegrown and eco-friendly values, and when they relocated to China for work, (a place often criticised for its manufacturing processes), they took these values with them. They wanted to see if they could find a way of doing things differently – creating interest and excitement in sustainable materials, whilst adhering to ethical business practices.

Today bambu continue to focus on the same key values. They source materials locally, work with people who work with their hands, and produce safe and durable products that will last for years. The primary material they work with is bamboo – well known these days as an endlessly renewable resource that grows very fast without the need for pesticides or fertilisers – and they also work with other sustainable materials such as cork and organic cotton.

For bambu sustainability goes beyond the balance between what they take from the earth and what they return to it. It is central to how they conduct themselves as a business. They are committed to 3rd party certification and testing, promote fair labour practices and safe working conditions and ‘green’ their supply chain. The result – a number of accolades by leading associations and trade groups. They are a certified B Corp – a community of businesses that balance purpose and profit.
