This hand picked Rosehip Oil gift set not only smells gorgeous but looks really pretty too - the perfect pampering gift combination for a friend or relative!
The set includes one Relaxing & Balancing Rosehip Soap and one Lavender Rose Rosehip Soap in a rectangular sustainable olive wood soap dish.
Rosehip oil is naturally rich in vitamins and minerals and has wonderful rejuvenating properties. Used in hospitals in Italy, it has been shown to reduce scarring and induce skin healing. The essential oil combination used for each soap offers different properies such as relaxing and balancing the mind, or cooling the skin and it's healing properties make it perfect for sensitive skin and excellent for reducing signs of ageing. Both soaps offer the skin a feeling of deep softness and come beautifully wrapped and ready for giving in organic cotton with cream raffia ribbon.
Olive wood inherently contains olive oil which can stay in the wood for many years. This may sometimes cause the dishes to 'bleed' when wet. This ‘bleeding' is only olive oil and does not stain bathroom or kitchen surfaces. The oil can also stain some light coloured soaps but this is not harmful, it just needs to be cleaned with a nail brush and left to dry. Please do not allow the soap dish to sit in water - like the soap, it needs to be able to dry out. The wood will lighten with use but if fed with olive oil it will regain its depth of colour.
All oils and butters used in Emma’s Soap are from suppliers who import where possible from within Europe. All oils are from a cold press process which avoids them using chemical based solvents for extraction purposes. Where possible oils and butters are organic and/or unrefined. Emma uses the beeswax from both her own hives and that of a local bee keeper, ensuring only the best grade is used in the manufacturing of the soap. Emma chooses to use virgin olive oil, a 95% renewable product, as the main ingredient in her soap (45/50%). Virgin olive pil is very pure and is full of anti-oxidants and vitamin E. The cosmetic industry tends to use olive pomace oil in their soaps. This is not a pure product as the extraction of this oil involves the use of high temperatures and petrochemical solvents such as hexane. The soap dish is made from natural Olive Wood.
All Emma's Soap is hand made in Devon, England and has been certified by a qualified chemist.
Emma's Soap contains no palm oil. The Indonesian rainforest is being decimated at an alarming rate, it is estimated that by 2020 98% of the Indonesian rainforest will have been destroyed to make way for oil palm plantations. Indonesia is now the third biggest climate polluter in the world from it's deforestation with approximately 20 square miles of rainforest being cut down every day. 95% of Borneo rainforest has been destroyed to grow oil palm and Malaysia is following the same path. Oil palm plantations, along with logging, fires, and other factors, destroy rainforest habitat, hinder migration patterns and block travel corridors. Roads and plantations fragment the rainforest, facilitating encroaching settlements and make animals vulnerable to illegal hunting and poaching. If animals enter plantations while searching for food outside the rainforest, they may be killed by workers. They are also at risk when plantation companies set forest fires to clear land for oil palm; some fires burn out of control, demolishing much larger areas than anticipated. It is possible to buy palm oil from sustainable plantations through the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil www.rspo.org but sadly this is in a minority.
Each soap is individually wrapped in organic fair trade cotton fabric. Not only does it present the soap beautifully but it also allows the soap to breathe as well as protecting it. As an added bonus, the fabric could also be re-used for topping homemade jams and chutneys, or to re-wrap your soap when travelling.
The Olive Wood Soap Dish is hand carved in Tunisia, and is a bi product from the Olive industry. Olive trees need to be pruned to produce a good tasty olive with a high yield, and after a certain age the olive tree becomes damaged and unproductive. To keep up with the pace of nature, very old trees have to be replaced with new trees, and the wood from the largest salvageable branches are used to make Emma's soap dishes. Consequently, no Olive trees are damaged or destroyed to make this product.

Emma, inspired by her daughter, wanted to avoid harsh chemicals on her family's skin and could not find a soap that was as the label described or portrayed; a soap that was environmentally sustainable and that performed; that was naturally cleaning and moisturising to the skin. Unable to find a soap and not willing to use alternatives, Emma decided to make her own soap. It took eight months of adding and deducting oils and adjusting percentages, until she perfected the recipe, enabling her to produce a soap that she was happy the family could use. Once the product had been tested by the family and certified by a chemist, Emma gave friends and family the soap to try; they kept asking for more! It was at this point Emma decide to go into production...
