SUSTAINABLE

FRUU strive to use the most responsibly-sourced ingredients wherever possible. Using a strategic cost structure and clever formulation, FRUU's lip balms are produced using ingredients extracted and derived from fruit waste that is discarded at fruit-processing factories around the world. It is a very wasteful process that produces almost as much waste per tonne as products.

It is estimated that 15-25 million tonnes of orange waste is generated around the world with 1.1 million tonnes of that being discarded at factories in the UK.

BRITISH

FRUU products are made at their UK workshop in small batches to ensure they are as fresh as possible.

FRUU Founder Terence Chung is a biochemist, former medical researcher and now a cosmetic scientist. He started FRUU aged 29, after completing his PGCE.

As a biochemist, Terence understood the basics of how cosmetics worked but had no idea how complicated it would be to make a functioning product that people would buy off the shelf. Terence had to teach himself everything from skin biology, cosmetic technology, product stability to website design and packaging design and after many late nights designing the brand's aesthetics and developing the formula, FRUU was born.

In August 2016, not long after the company started trading , FRUU won a Shell LiveWIRE Smarter Future Award generating a great deal of interest in the brand's innovative products.

Today, the company continues to grow and regularly donates a portion of their profits to World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to help preserve natural diversity. They do not test on animals and do not use any animal products.
