Sophie la girafe is a cute, retro style, squeaky teething toy with a very soft texture and numerous chewable parts (ears, horns, legs), perfect for soothing baby's sore gums during teething. She is very light and flexible, and her long legs and neck make it easy for baby to grip, even from the earliest days.

Traditionally made in France from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of the Malaysian Hevea tree, a renewable resource. The Hevea tree has a naturally sweet smell which makes Sophie unique and recognisable to very young babies. Coloured with non-toxic, food grade paints.

Presented in card box which can be adapted into a giftbox using the card sleeve inside.

Approximately 18cm high.

Suitable from birth.

Care instructions:
Do not sterilise. Clean with hot soapy water using a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water. Keep away from direct sunlight and heat. Full instruction leaflet inside.
NATURAL

Made from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of Hevea trees that grow in Malaysia.

Every morning, before the daytime heat sets in, the milky liquid that oozes from cells beneath the bark of millions of Hevea trees is collected. This liquid, commonly known as “latex”, is natural, elastic and water-resistant, acts as an insulator, is pleasant to the touch and smells nice.
Sophie la girafe was born in the early 1960s from an idea by French man Monsieur Rampeau, an expert in designing rubber toys. Monsieur Rampeau found that he could transform sap from Hevea trees in Malaysia into flexible, natural rubber toys by using rotational moulding techniques. His idea of a giraffe would be the first exotic wildlife figure on the market at that time, and its size and shape was ideal for a baby's small hands to grasp.

Sophie la girafe® went into production on Thursday 25th May, 1961, and she looks exactly the same today as she did then. Sophie is still "traditionally" produced by VULLI, a company based in Rumilly in the Haute-Savoie region of France. To this day VULLI has continued to keep the highly guarded secret of how this wonder toy is made.
