ORGANIC

Made from GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton. The cotton is grown organically without using toxic fertilisers and chemical pesticides ensuring environmentally sustainable production.

In order to obtain the GOTS quality mark, strict requirements and production processes throughout the entire textile chain must be adhered to. It also means every step of production is checked and all chemicals used such as dyestuffs must meet certain environmental and toxilogical criteria. For more information about GOTS certification please visit http://www.global-standard.org

All packaging is made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved card. The FSC is an international non-profit organisation that works to promote the practice of sustainable forestry and certifies forests worldwide to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards. Therefore products like FSC paper and wood have been sourced in an environmentally-friendly, socially responsible and economically viable manner.
Wooly Organic involve young designers - students and graduates from the Art Academy of Latvia - in the design process of their toys.

The designs are inspired by the Steiner (Waldorf) education system, created by Rudolf Steiner (1861 – 1925), an Austrian born innovative academic whose ideas founded the basis of Anthroposophy. Anthroposophy is a modern spiritual path that cherishes and respects the freedom of each individual, irrespective of academic ability, class, ethnicity or religion and takes into account the needs of the child as a whole – academic, physical, emotional and spiritual.

Wooly Organic toys therefore have minimal facial features in order to encourage the imagination of a young child and to cultivate “inner picturing” abilities. If a toy has just two eyes, the child is able to imagine the toy expressing its own emotions, encouraging a complete imaginative life.
