THE ENGLISH SOAP COMPANY

The idea for the English Soap Company began in 2000 when husband and wife team Bob & Juliet discovered some vintage soap moulds lying disused in a farm machinery workshop in Kent. Inspired by their discovery, the couple spent many years at home refining the art of soap making and perfumery to produce the perfect soap. The result, a soap bar smooth and silky in texture that moisturises rather than dries the skin, and above all with a luxurious designer perfume that lasts right up to the end of the bar.

The story behind The English Soap Company

FROM TABLE TO FARM

As the business grew it moved to a local farm in Sussex, and by 2012 Bob and Juliet’s son Oliver had taken over as Managing Director, along with his wife Ailsa as Business Development Manager. In 2017 the Brand expanded production to hand creams, hand sanitisers, shower gels, perfumes and much more. Not stopping there, the range expanded even further with the inclusion of scented candles and hand and body washes. To this day The English Soap Company is proud to remain a family business with its cohort of ever-growing staff.

OVER 20 YEARS OF SOAP MAKING

What began as a small kitchen table business has since grown into an internationally recognised soap and toiletries brand, exporting to over 40 countries across the world with partnerships including The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Head office, manufacturing and distribution are all situated at a beautiful, tranquil farm site in heart of the Sussex countryside.

In March 2023 the Brand was proudly awarded Business Champion of the Year from the UK's leading business awards (and Huw Edwards!). Today, it's also proud to have retained the values it holds dear: family, quality and sustainability.
