PAPER HIGH

The idea for Paper High came in 1998 when founders Mark Woolley & Claire Gibson set off on a year-long around the world trip. Three years later, an extended stay in Kathmandu and a chance meeting with a paper maker, sowed the seed to make their exciting business idea a reality.

The story behind Paper High

WFTO PRODUCERS

After exploring India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, Mark & Claire built relationships with a network of small family businesses, community incentives, charities, and accredited Fair Trade organisations. Their aim was to champion products hand crafted by skilled artisans using sustainable or recycled materials wherever possible.

The couple eventually returned to the UK in 2002 with two large boxes of beautifully handmade journals and photo albums, and set up their very first stall at London's Camden Market. Customers loved the unique quality of the handmade books as much as they did, and so Paper High was born.

SUSTAINABLE GROWTH

Grown from a couple's love of travel, Paper High is now a thriving business. After more than 20 years and a few more stalls, festivals, their own warehouse in East Sussex and two lovely daughters later, Mark and Claire are still selling the same very first journals – and of course an awful lot more besides! The Brand is also proud to be offering a fabulous range of homewares, bags and accessories, all of which are of course, handmade, sustainable and Fair Trade.

We can't wait to see what lovely products they come up with next!

    Why I Love Paper High

Paper High has a great history of fair trading, but also giving designs a modern twist. I love that it still sells the classic leather journals it first designed over 20 years ago! The Yamala scarves are a particular favourite with our customers - I think it is their vibrant colours and 'one of a kind' designs that make them such a lovely gift.
