FAIRTRADE - Yakanaka seeks to support economically disadvantaged members of marginalised communities through the provision of sustainable employment opportunities. They actively provide opportunities for local women to provide them with a skills base and an income that will be used to the benefit of their families and children. They also assist in providing shelter, food, clothing and educational needs for the children where they can. They have two work shops in South Africa and Zimbabwe and have set up the Yakanaka Foundations which supports local projects such as a medical centres and a domestic violence centre.
Yakanaka is a member of BAFTS (British Association of Fair Trade Shops).
