Suitable from birth. Recommended play age: 9-24 months.
NATURAL – the wooden toys are coated with shellac (a natural secretion of the lac insect) and coloured with vegetable dyes like tumeric.
FAIR TRADE – the toys are made in Bangalore in worker-owned collectives, where the artisans are paid well, on time each month and fairly. They have reasonable working hours, regular breaks and from 2008 will be paid a royalty from UK sales. The collectives are supported by Maya Organic - a non-for-profit organisation who identify their learning needs and help enhance their skills (in computing, finance etc).
SUSTAINABLE - the wood used for the toys is either sustainable hale wood or rubberwood.
