Bambu are well known for their innovative use of sustainable materials and for 2011 have introduced a new take on cork called cork fabric.
Those who have seen and felt it are amazed by it's unusual feel (as well as a little confused about what it is!) and can't put it down. Unfortunately we can only show you pictures on the website but here's a detailed description that we hope gives you an idea of what it is like.
The cork fabric is made from a thin layer of cork applied to a cotton backing and is amazingly supple and tactile, with a lovely matt finish and a smooth leather-like feel. It is also very durable, anti-microbial, water and stain resistant and is even machine washable.
The bambu Adjust-A-Bowl is the ultimate 'hold everything' bowl that is always the right size! The supple cork fabric allows you to keep it full height, or fold it down, depending on how deep you want the bowl to be. Made from a double layer of cork fabric it is water and stain resistant on the inside as well as the outside.
Use it in the kitchen for fruit, vegetables or bread, in the bathroom for bottles or bits and pieces and around the house for just about any purpose!
Finished with a smart bambu fabric label.
Machine wash cold, reshape and line dry.
The large Adjust-A-Bowl is 30.5cm in diameter. Maximum height 12cm.
FAIR TRADE – bambu is committed to the fair treatment of workers, promoting healthy communities and preserving the environment. The cork range is made in China by a co-operative where the craftspeople are involved in setting the pricing levels.
SUSTAINABLE - Cork is renewable and biodegradable, one of nature’s most remarkable resources. The bark of a cork tree is sustainably harvested every 10-12 years. It quickly regenerates and the tree continues to flourish, generally improving the tree’s health and vitality. The tree plays a vital role in balancing the ecosystem. Cork forests are essential to preventing soil erosion, maintaining water resources and storing CO2. Cork trees live an average of 150-200 years. "
