The launch of Green Tulip in 2007 fulfilled my long term goal - bringing together personal commitments to trading fairly and helping save the environment with a passion for retail. My aim is to offer customers products that are stylish and contemporary, and that have also been produced without exploiting people, animals or the environment. I would love to think that, in some small way, Green Tulip will help raise the profile of ethically sourced products and show that they can be beautiful too.
I have focused the assortment on gifts as I believe the beneficiary of an ethical gift receives double the pleasure – a product they love and a positive feeling about the fact that in some small way it has helped the world become a better place. Our great selection, together with the gift finder and gift wrap service - should make gift shopping hassle free. And of course as the benefactor you’ll get a positive feeling too – so that you may just want to treat yourself to something at the same time!
Many years working for one of the country’s biggest retailers had shown me that sourcing the right products is crucial. I select products firstly by how they look, taste or function – everything should stand out as a desirable product in its own right - and then research how the products are sourced, where possible using small suppliers so that I can meet the founder and hear first hand of their commitment to ethical sourcing. At the same time I give a guarantee that Green Tulip will be an ethical business to deal with - paying on time and not working to inflated profit margins. Further information on each of the ethical categories we use can be found here.
Now you know a bit more about the principles behind Green Tulip I hope you enjoy looking through the site and feel as inspired as I do about the beautiful products and their stories.
Do get in touch with any comments or new product ideas – I’d love to hear from you.
